Welcome to Branco's
Branco's A name that has been synonymous with authentic Goan cuisine for over two decades and still has the reputation for the best Goan food in town.
While the restaurant has gained a distinction of its own, the building itself is steeped in history. Originally the site of an armoury depot during the Portuguese rule in Goa, the structure is almost one hundred and fifty years old. The building eventually passed into the hands of the Church, from whom it was bought in 1981 by Francisco Branco.
Francisco Branco, fondly known as 'Bachico', was a well-known figure in Panjim having served as Mayor of the city for almost 10 years as well as the MLA of the Santa Cruz Constituency for another 5 years. Francisco's exceptionally friendly and genieal character was of course ideally suited for the Hospitality industry but it wasn't until 1981 that he dived headlong into a venture that would prove to be a phenomenal sucess.
On 5th December 1981, 'Branco's' was started with a mere 6 tables, serving mouth-watering Goan suisine. The food was prepared in earnest by francisco himself, who also personally supervised the kitchen along with his wife Veronica. With 'Bachico' and Veronica at the helm, Branco's grew in popularity especially among lovers of true Goan cuisine. The restuarant became a prominent spot in Panjim, even serving selected dishes that were available exclusively at Branco's.
Today Branco's in run by Orlando Branco, the youngest son of Francisco and Veronica. with the same fierce passion as his father, Orlando is carrying on the legacy of Branco's by maintaining the same old feel of the restaurant but also introducing a whole new interior look.
The commitment to great authentic cuisine has always remained constant at Branco's and hope that you will experience the same on your visit.
